How we source things
Every claim on this site is tagged with where it came from. We use two kinds of source:
- Steam's own API
- Release date, price, developer, live player count, chart position, review totals, patch notes. These are hard facts and they are re-checked on the date shown in the footer (2026-10-03).
- Steam Community guides
- Where we report what players worked out — quest order, triggers, bait pools. These are community findings, not official numbers, and we label them as such.
The full source list is in the footer of every page and machine-readable in our data file. Here are the raw links: Steam app details (appid 4001890) · Steam player count · Steam global top-played chart · Steam reviews · Steam news feed · Steam Community guides · PCGamingWiki — How to Fish.
There is a fuller version of this on the editorial policy page — source tiers, version stamping, and the things we refuse to publish.
What we deliberately do not publish
Other sites covering this game disagree with each other. You will find creature counts of 45, 49 and 54 in different places, and at least one site's own page inventory does not match the number in its own title. We are not going to add a fourth guess to that pile.
So there is no fish count on this site, and no damage tables. Those numbers live inside the game's Unity build. Community sites have extracted them; we have not done that extraction ourselves yet, so we do not repeat the figures as if we had.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, it is almost certainly because it came from a community source that was wrong. The fix is the same either way: tell us and we will change it and note the date.
