Does that lure pay for itself?
Every lure in How to Fish costs money, and every lure has one fish that is worth more than the rest. Work out how many catches it takes to earn the lure back — the answer is usually one.
Type a number and this tells you what to do with it.
Payback table — cheapest first
"Catches to break even" = the lure's shop price divided by its single most valuable fish, rounded up. Catch-time is not published anywhere, so this is deliberately not a per-hour rate — it is the honest number we can actually compute.

How to use this
- If a lure breaks even in one catch, buy it as soon as you can afford it — that is most of them.
- That holds for all nine lures, including the Scientific Boss Lure at $5,800 — one Goblin Shark ($6,200) covers it. The catch is that you have to be able to land that fish, which is the real gate.
- The Crab Carcass fish are priced in euros, not coins, so do not add them to a coin total.
- Cooking a fish multiplies what it sells for — work the grill into any farming route.
