Before you start

Restock ammunition. Several triggers are one-use, so a failed attempt means farming the bait again.
Clear inventory space — the trophy you get back is usually what opens the next island.
Bring the late-island loadout. See weapons.
In co-op, agree roles first. The wallet is shared, so a wipe costs everyone.

After the fight

Hand the trophy in rather than selling it. Trophy hand-ins unlock the following island, and selling one is close to unrecoverable.
