Making money

Money is the gate in How to Fish: it buys the rod and weapons you need for the next island. The loop is simple, but the order matters.

The loop

1. Catch the cheapest, most reliable fish until you can afford a better rod.
2. Buy the rod, not cosmetics — gear opens pools, cosmetics do not.
3. Sell consistently; do not stockpile for a gamble.
4. Once a boss drops, hand the trophy in rather than selling it — the trophy opens the next island.

Where the money leaks out

• Gambling. Roulette and the slot machine are in the game and they can take the whole run's money. Reviews are full of it.
• Selling boss trophies instead of handing them in, which stalls progression.
• Buying weapons you cannot feed. Guns need ammunition; a weapon you cannot afford to shoot is a liability.
