Items, guns or skins disappeared

Gear vanishes: weapons and skins are missing from your inventory, a co-op partner’s inventory empties, or items dropped on death are not on the ground when you go back. Some players also lose inventory and money after reloading a save.

What is actually going on

This is one of the most-reported bugs on the board. The clearest pattern players describe: die, reload the save, and inventory plus money is gone. Several also report that items dropped on death never appear on the ground.

What to try

  1. There is no confirmed community fix for this, and we are not going to invent one.
  2. Because it is tied to reloading: copy your save folder before any deliberate die-and-reload. Saves live at %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Dazed Games\How to Fish\Saves\ — copy the whole folder.
  3. Patch 1.0.11 added corruption checks and automatic backups, but the developer has not documented where those backups are stored.
  4. Report it with your patch version and what you did immediately before the loss. Fixes were shipping weekly through September 2026.
